Proto Productions provided several types of museum quality display cases for three south Florida sites: Everglades National Park, Biscayne National Park and Big Cypress National Preserve through the South Florida Collections Management Center. The SFCMC is a multi-park museum program for all five National Park Service units in south Florida.
These cases were constructed using conservation grade materials and finished with high quality oak veneer. The larger cases have UV filtering glass windows hinged with gas spring assisted lifts to allow full access to the artifact chambers. Clear UV filtering acrylic top lenses provide ambient light to the interiors while solid sides control unwanted light from the gallery's sun exposure. Double-sided artifact chambers let visitors view displays on both sides of each case.
Smaller display cases feature four-sided UV filtering “clamshell” acrylic vitrines with hinged access and gas spring assisted lifts. Gas spring assist allows a single person to easily access the cases. Cases were built with self-closing drawers to meet the curatorial needs of each site and to make additional display surfaces available. Wall mounted cases have drop down access to humidity control chambers.
